Admissions

St. Leo the Great School is a Catholic parish school. The school does not discriminate on the basis of race, sex, color, religious affiliation, national and/or ethnic origin, age, or physical or learning disability (if, with reasonable effort on the part of the school, the disabled person can be accommodated). The following preference guidelines have been established for admittance to St. Leo's

  • Siblings of children already attending St. Leo’s
  • Children of parishioners
  • Children of non-parishioners may be accepted at the non-parishioner’s tuition rate
  • If a grade level is full, we maintain a waiting list.

Registering your child in St. Leo’s School or transferring your child from another school requires that you stop by the school office to fill out the necessary paperwork. Please call ahead at 832-6340 to make sure someone will be available to assist you.

Bison Scholarship FundBISON Scholarship Fund

The BISON Scholarship Fund is a tuition assistance program for low income children (K - 8th grade) to attend private school of choice. The BISON Fund serves all 8 counties of Western New York (Erie, Niagara, Genesee, Orleans, Allegany, Wyoming, Chautauqua, and Cattaraugus counties). For more informaion, visit www.bisonfund.com.

Kindergarten Requirements:

  • Students must be 5 years old by Dec. 1st of the year enrolled.
  • Documents needed: birth certificate, baptismal certificate, immunization/medical records, and social security number.
  • Payment of registration fee
  • Kindergarten registration begins in October of the year prior to entering and continues until the class is full. Early registration is advised.
  • New York State requires kindergarten screening of all students prior to entering kindergarten. Our screening process takes place in June prior to the kindergarten school year.

Parents of students transferring to St. Leo’s from another school must interview with the principal and provide copies of school and medical records. Parents can arrange for this by signing a Release of Records form in our school office.

Documents needed:

  • School records for all previous schooling, immunization/medical records, birth certificate, baptismal certificate, social security number, and any special needs records such as: referral for speech, occupational therapy, special education, gifted programming etc. Based on the above documentation, further testing may be given.
  • An interview with the principal
  • Payment of registration fee

Additional Tuition Information

  • 5% tuition discount if paid in full prior to 8/1/2013.

Fundraising Requirements

  • Work 4 bingo occasions (failure to do so will result in a $150 per occasion).
  • Work a minimum of 10 hours for the school auction (failure to do so will result in a $300
    pro-rated charge).
  • Purchase or sell 4 auction tickets.
  • Generate $250 in net profit from the purchase of Easter candy, gift cards, lottery
    calendars or additional auction tickets.

Scholarship Opportunities:

Scholarship opportunities to help defray the cost of yearly tuition can be found though the Bison Fund. Families in all of Erie County are eligible to apply. Additional Requirements and Fees:

  • $85.00 non-refundable per child book and material fee due each year at the time of registration.
  • $50.00 non – refundable per child lab /activity fee due each year at the time of registration.

Home School Association:

Every school family is considered a member of the H. S. A family. Each school family is required to do the following:

  • Work four bingo occasions in the school (failure to do so will result in a 75.00 fee for each.)
  • Purchase or sell four Auction tickets (failure to do so will result in a per ticket charge)
  • Generate $250 in net profit from the purchase of Easter Candy, lottery calendars or additional auction tickets.
